The game does involve some points of etiquette and in this section the two main points will be covered.

ace Firstly, make sure you avoid "slow rolling" an opponent in a casino. When you believe that you hold a certain winning hand and you hesitate for a small moment before revealing what you have, if you like, show boating and possibly trying to lead your opponent into thinking they have the best hand is what is called slow rolling. Players won't appreciate you doing this and its not to be advised. Usually a hesitation in showing a hand is a sign of weakness and it really is hated when this happens for you then to turn over the nuts.

ace Also, another main point to remember is to make sure you always act in turn. In the game, players are meant to act one at a time in a clockwise direction. If you look at your hand and have every intention to fold but the action is not with you yet, it is still your duty to show interest and not to give away the fact you will be folding before it is your time to do so.

Why?

There are many examples but it mainly comes down to the fact that a premature fold by you is giving other players an obvious advantage with regards to them receiving information they are in no way entitled to. Your show of weakness before its your turn can otherwise change the course of a hand where someone could have been encouraged to play their own hand instead of other players able to bluff them out of a certain pot. As you read this just now it may seem childish and picky, however, as you progress in your poker education, the more you will become to realise this point and fully appreciate why it is frowned upon and it could possibly cost you a big pot one day when somebody does it to you.

So,

1. never slow roll an opponent and,

2. always act in turn
