Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott is one of the world's most feared poker players and a former World Series of Poker bracelet winner - one of very few non-Americans to win. Born in 1954 in a rough, working-class area in Hull, UK, he started playing cards at 14 and poker at age 18. On his 21st birthday, he spends time in jail due to falling into the wrong company, 2 men who made their living robbing tobacconists and off licence's and before he reaches 30 he has parted from two women and 3 children, and served more time in prison in Durham and Leeds.
He earned his nickname "Devilfish" in Las Vegas when a Chinese card player likened the threat he poses to that of a poisonous fish, edible only when meticulously prepared. Otherwise it will kill you.
His favorite poker game is Pot limit 4 card Omaha high because he says you have such a big advantage over players who think they can play the game. Among his major poker accomplishments are the WSOP 1997 pot-limit limit hold 'em champion, and 1998 2nd in the same tournament.
Devilfish is a guy that EVERYBODY wants to beat these days, a marked man if you like:-

"Internet players who've watched the tele all the time, they want to come and get me. If they win they can say they knocked out the Devilfish. If they lose, they've still got a story to tell the grand kids."

The 51 year old, father of seven's abrasive style is well known to his fans from his televised games. In a tournament last year he played an internet qualifier who tried talking tough before facing the Devilfish, he failed:-

"He was a bit over the top but in the end he sat there shitting himself."

Something Dave was all to ready to point out to the cameras. Through this abrasive style, the devilfish is obviously unrepentant:-

"If I can make someone nervous then obviously its an advantage. It's an aggressive game."

When talking about the best players in the world, he's unsure who the best all rounder in the world is but has respect for players like Phil Hellmuth, Johnny Chan, Erik Seidel, Howard Lederer and sister Annie Duke. Uk based, there's Marcel Luske, Ram Vaswani and Derek Baxter just to name a few.
This former poker part-timer from Hull in the UK is now established as someone who can compete in the toughest arena in the world.
